What will we talk about during Mastermind sessions?
Not sure if our Medical Writing Mastermind is for you? Here's an example of what we supported each other with in one of our 2023 cohort's sessions:
- Strategies for pitching clients, including use of LinkedIn & digital trackers
- Structuring consulting work & coming up with rates for different services
- Building relationships with potential clients, and networking tactics
- Phasing out existing clients by replacing them with better ones
- Setting up subcontracting relationships & how to find subcontractors
And one member showed us her updated website to obtain group feedback.
There's no limit to what you can ask or discuss during sessions. However, we ask that everyone picks just one focus per session, so we can get through everything in the allocated time.
How will we be held accountable as Mastermind members?
There are several forms of accountability built into our Medical Writing Mastermind Group. One is that you will be required to attend all sessions live (unless you are on vacation or facing exceptional circumstances) because recordings will not be made available afterwards. Another is that everyone must write out an area of focus in our centralized, collaborative document prior to live sessions so that we can hit the ground running when we meet. And members must write 1–2 action items at the end of each session to hold themselves (and other members) accountable until the next time we meet, as our facilitators will review these items at the start of the following session.
What is the overall purpose or objective of the Mastermind?
Our Medical Writing Mastermind Group was birthed in September, 2023 to help seasoned freelancers feel supported as they grow their business, through low-cost peer-to-peer community and mentorship. Just because you've already launched your business, worked with clients, generated revenue, or BSd your way through life doesn't mean you feel confident as an entrepreneur or happy with the place of growth you've reached. Some of us are destined for more so, rather than spend many thousands of dollars on The 'Thriving & Free' Medical Writer Program for novices, they join our Mastermind Group to be met where they're at, ready to support and inspire others as part of a collaborative, professional community.
Why is the investment for the Mastermind so low compared to your main coaching program?
The idea behind our Medical Writing Mastermind Group is that, between you all, you already have all of the "answers." You are probably just lacking support, accountability, confidence, or a particular tool or template that someone else has, and a push in the right direction. Even knowing what to do next to grow your business can be overwhelming sometimes! But that doesn't mean you can't do it. It's for this reason that we've chosen to provide peer-to-peer mentorship option, i.e. this Mastermind. It's also why we're so picky about who we accept into the Group!
Why do you ask me about my earnings in the application form?
This Group is for business owners who have already established a strong foundation as a freelance medical writer and are looking to grow, scale up, expand, delegate, re-brand, offer new services, and so on. And if you're going to talk the talk, you most certainly have to walk the walk, too. Therefore, we have to get an accurate sense from all applicants on where they're currently at in their business to see if they'd be better suited to our business coaching program or if they're ready for more.
I'm a Prospology graduate. Is this Mastermind Group for me?
Yes, our Medical Writing Mastermind Group is ideal for you because you've already covered all of the basics in terms of building the assets of your business, getting familiar with the lay of the land, and probably securing your first couple of clients/paid writing projects. We'll meet you where you're at, but you'll still need to apply just in case a program extension would better suit your needs before progressing to joining a Mastermind cohort.
Will I be allowed to connect with Mastermind members outside of Group sessions?
Yes, of course! Past members have collaborated on medical writing projects, and supported one another in securing and delivering projects behind the scenes. They have also partnered up to discuss niche areas of interest in more detail, outside of live sessions, connected on LinkedIn, and found ways to leverage their network as it suited them. This is a huge reason why we started the Medical Writing Mastermind Group in the first place, so don't feel restricted by the framework we have in place by any means.
What if I need support in between scheduled live sessions?
We meet twice a month because we recognize everyone's busy delivering client projects, keeping up with their marketing and client acquisition, and general life stuff. But also because it's the perfect amount of time to see how far everyone has come in between sessions (further than they would alone, that's for sure!).
Having said that, you may need to get someone's input on a quote you're putting together, or whether you want to take something on, outside of a session. Or you might want to refer out a project that you don't have time to do, or get a second opinion on some new logos you're working on, or rant about a terrible client you're dealing with. We have a dedicated space to this in our private forum, the Prospologers Community. Go ham!
What's the difference between how the Community is used for Mastermind vs. students?
Individuals enrolled in The 'Thriving & Free' Medical Writer Program are "students" because they're part of the Prospologers Community to learn how to establish their freelance medical writing business (usually from scratch), network with other writers, and build confidence as an entrepreneur. They make a hefty investment to have an immersive business coaching experience with Prospology and, as such, we provide them unlimited, 24/7 access to our private forum, with paid moderators on hand to support them with anything they may need.
Mastermind Group members, on the other hand, are making a fraction of the investment because they're in our Community to provide peer-to-peer mentorship, guidance, feedback, and support to other Mastermind members who are at a similar level of business expertise to themselves. Therefore, we do not offer paid moderation in the Prospologers Community for Mastermind members—instead, giving them their own designated space to interact with other members as needed. Sometimes, we may come in to offer thoughts or perspectives, but we're not there to coach them, so the arrangement is different in that regard.
Can I have 1:1 coaching time with Sophie, Bernard, or other Prospology Experts?
If you'd like to go deeper on a topic with one of Prospology's Experts, we can potentially set you up with your own Student Portal and allow you to purchase credits to exchange for 1:1 coaching sessions as needed. This will be assessed and permitted on a case-by-case basis depending on whether we feel you would also benefit from a full month of enrolment in our main business coaching program, or if we think sufficient headway can be made through 1:1 time as an alternative.
When will future Mastermind Group cohorts run?
Our first cohort of 2024 will run from Jan 1 to April 30. Our second will run from May 1 to Aug 31. Our third from Sept 1 to Dec 31. Specific dates and times for future cohorts will be released nearer the time, as we start getting ourselves organized and advertising openings. Note that there are only 20 spots available in each cohort, so if you want to plan ahead to join, please let us know in your application.
